1. Choose the setting and silhouette

A solitaire puts a single centre stone at the heart of the design. A halo surrounds the centre with smaller diamonds, while pavé styles add diamonds along the band. Compare the complete outline rather than the centre stone alone: two rings with the same centre weight can look quite different.

Think about everyday wear. Look at the side view and setting details, and ask about the ring height if it is not shown. If you plan to wear a wedding band alongside it, ask whether the two bands will sit together in the way you prefer.

2. Compare centre weight with total diamond weight

Centre-stone carat weight describes the main diamond. Total diamond weight includes the other diamonds in the ring. A ring described as 1ct total is therefore not necessarily a ring with a 1ct centre. Check which measurement the listing uses.

For a specific example, our PT950 platinum round solitaire lists a 2.05ct centre diamond with measurements of 8.16–8.23 × 4.99mm. Those dimensions help you understand its physical size alongside the carat figure.

3. Read the diamond and certification details

Compare the listed shape, colour, clarity and cut information where available. Check the report reference and its scope. An individual grading report describes a particular diamond; a jewellery report may assess the finished piece. Smaller accent stones are not individually certified unless the product states otherwise.

The platinum solitaire above lists an IGI report for its centre diamond and a supplementary GRC jewellery report. Other rings can have different certification arrangements, so use each product’s own details when comparing.

4. Select your metal and check the final configuration

Choose the metal colour you enjoy wearing and check the gold purity or platinum specification in the selected option. Product options differ across the collection. Confirm the price after selecting the metal, stone and size options available for that ring.

5. Confirm the size and delivery timing

Our Australian ring size guide explains how to measure and compare sizes. A professional measurement is helpful when you are unsure, especially for a surprise proposal. If you are choosing between sizes or planning to resize later, ask about the particular design first.

In-stock and made-to-order pieces have different timeframes. Check the product page, read our delivery information and confirm any fixed proposal date with us before ordering.

Engagement ring questions

Is resizing available on every ring?

Check the individual listing and contact us about the size you need. The PT950 platinum solitaire above lists complimentary resizing; do not assume that the same arrangement applies to every design or alteration.

What should I confirm before paying?

Confirm the chosen configuration, final price, size, certification details and estimated delivery. Read the returns policy, particularly when ordering a resized or made-to-order piece, and our workmanship warranty.
